20 Email Subject Lines for Sales Success

How many emails do you delete daily? I would say nowadays I am deleting over 50 emails daily from a mixture of both personal and work related emails. Why is that? The email is not targeted to me and does not give me a specific reason or value to open it OR follow up. Being in sales myself an open rate of over 30% is great, but the open rate isn’t all that matters here. You want them to buy your services and become long term business clients.

Main advice for a stellar email is to first and foremost, BRING VALUE! Then keep it real, keep it precise, give a call to action, keep it personalized and keep it relevant.

Mass blanketed emails rarely work anymore, and typically attract the low end of the totem poll business wise. You want to make sure your emails are targeted and relevant to the receiver and his business, to make sure that he is the right person to connect with to approve your services.

I’ve been testing different email subject lines throughout my sales career and have found the below subject lines to get the highest open rates and closes for business below:

  1. Liz, ready for growth?

When you call out their name, you get their attention faster. Dear Sirs or Hey There is degrading and means you are lazy or not doing your research to close the deal.

  1. Netflix Password?

    Never underestimate the power of a JOKE! Humor always works! It lightens your potential prospects up and gives it an airy feeling to het them interested in what you are serving up.

  2. Question about {THEIR PROBLEM YOU SOLVE}?

What problem are you looking to solve when you are emailing your potential client? Make sure this is stated in the body of the email to make sure your reach out provides enough value for them to want to respond and act to buy your services.

  1. Matt recommend I get in touch

    When you are able to look at your potential clients name on LinkedIn, it is great when you already have someone in common that you can mention that may bring relevance to you and the business you offer by legitimizing your services and making you known with your industry somehow.

  2. Helping you

    If you are not able to help the person you are reaching out to there is no reason to be reaching out in the first place. Make sure you research and know your audience before getting in touch.

  3. I found you via LinkedIn

    Looks great on your end because it shows you are scoping out your propects ahead of time and doing your due diligence prior to reaching out. Kudos!

  4. {DAY OF THE WEEK or PRODUCT YOU SELL} Blues? Let me help

    Turns out not everyone is thrilled about their job! Haha! Most people are on the 9 to 5 grind and are probably not in a great mood. Calling them out and offering a helping hand goes a long way.

  5. 3 Steps to New {RELEVANT BUSINESS THEY OFFER}

    I love lists that guide me to help me or my business. Pointing out flaws or problems within their business that you can help solve will help give them a reason to reach back out to you to use your services.

  6. {NAME}, what would you do with a few extra grand?

    Money sells! If your business is able to provide them value or straight bring them new money it should be called out in the body of the email, giving them the pathway to the promise land.

  7. A New Strategy from {YOUR BUSINESS}

    Everyone wonders if their current pathway is the right one. Bringing new strategies to the table will help make them believe you know their issues and are ready to help them.

  8. Trying to connect

    This one is simple and sweet, should be followed up with a few dates and times that would work for them to connect a on a call or screen share to go over the services. I have found that when the person is able to physically see you, there is a higher close rate. So WhatsApp, Google Hangouts and/or Skype are all great ways to capture your audience and build a relationship with them.

  9. (NAME OF THEIR COMPANY}

    Another simple subject line for your email, but it gets them to open it to try and find out what you are all about.

  10. iPhone Users? OR Sent from my iPhone

    Did you drink the Kool Aid and buy an iPhone? You sly dog you! Because the iPhone has the elite branding here everyone thinks you are fancy and wants to do business with you.

  11. I would love to talk about {YOUR BUSINESS SERVICE TO THE COMPANY}

    You talk, I talk, everybody talks when you are adding value to your life. VALUE TO YOUR LIFE is also a funny subject line. Bring the value and get the customer.

  12. Here’s an idea for you

    Bring them an idea that could bring value to their business, and close that sale!

  13. Quick question about {YOUR FUTURE CLIENTS ISSUE YOUR BUSINESS SOLVES}

    Point out a potential problem your prospective client may encounter and ask them if they would consider hopping on a call to review the opportunity.

  14. Change your position about joining {YOUR COMPANY}?

    Maybe your prospective client is not happy with your competitor today and may want to try out your services instead. The time is now!

    Be specific on the benefit you can bring to the table so they want to work with you.

  16. NAME, you have X options to get started!

    Bring different aspects to the table that benefit you and the company.

  17. This is how COMPETITOR gets PROFIT

    Let’s be honest, you tried to cheat and look at the persons paper next to you to see their answers before providing yours. Cheater! Reality is that your prospective client has competitors and you want to bring that up as if they are successful with you already, they may have FOMO or Fear Of Missing Out and want to test you out solely due to the fact that their competitor is seeing great results with you as well. Lock in down!

Tips to Improve your Work Day

Growing up in a big family,  there was always some drama going on in our home.  When someone was cranky in our house, we would say HALT.  This stands for being Hungry, Angry, Lonely or Tired.  This is a funny buzzword to remind you to ask yourself what is wrong when you weren’t feeling up to par.

Since most up up work over 35 hours a week, either from home, or in an office environment, we tend to be HALT motivated on a daily basis.  For me, a great start to the day is always key in having me perform my best.  When I am Hungry, Angry, Lonely or Tired, it seems to put a damper on my day.

Instead of wallowing, I like to look at positive motivational videos on YouTube or positive motivational memes on my Instagram account, @leverageambition.

Some tips on how to improve your work week below:

1.)  Get a good night sleep.

This is key.  I find that when I leave my phone in my bag for the night, that is in my closet downstairs, is when I get the best rest.  I usually put it in my bag as I bring the kids upstairs to sleep, so we are all able to disconnect and be undistracted before bedtime.  I typically like to read books to the boys, and when we are done, we are typically ready to all pass out.  I go to bed anywhere from 9-11pm and get up anywhere from 7-9am.  A great night sleep and feeling refreshed in the AM helps me get through anything!

2.) Eat well, drink healthy and stay hydrated.

This is one that I always forget myself.  Luckily my husband does not drink alcohol, which helps me not drink alcohol too.  I find that if I drink the night before, the next day at work is awful, and I feel all the HALT adjectives.  So it is key to not drink alcohol during the week so that you are not off your game in the morning.  Not only that, but what you eat and drink directly has an effect on your mood and actions.  I try to stay hydrated with water and fruit during the day, but also drink coffee and tea too if I need a fix.  This helps me maintain my productivity and positivity.  Also when eating, I try to go high protein as high carbs makes me want to sleep at my desk.

3.) Develop friendships at work, i.e. don’t be a jerk.

This has always been hard for me as I have always been very competitive at work.  I also like to keep my private life private, but it seems that this has been the wrong approach.  I started a new job a few years ago and was very uptight the first few months as I was anxious to perform and do a great job, so I felt I did not have time for others.  This was a mistake and I regret it now as someone was promoted above me on my team that was PC and friendly with everyone.  My bad.  Reality is that your co-workers should actually be an extension of your client list, and you should always be on your best behavior, positive, non-gossipy and confident in a non-jerky way.  A good way to do this is ask them out to lunch, ask them how their personal life is going, give praise to the good things they are doing, give help as you can.

4.) Set Goals, and be accountable for your wins and losses.

This is key in success.  If you can set daily, weekly monthly, yearly goals, this is ideal.  It helps keep you on track, and makes you accountable for your work in a long term and short term basis.

2018 New Year Goals

4 more days until New Year’s Day! 2017 will be over and done with, commencing a new beginning in 2018!  I am off from my day job until January 2nd, so this is a great time for me to reflect on my 2017 progress and failures and come into 2018 with new goals and strategies to achieve what I want to accomplish this year!

Being a mom, wife, co-worker, business partner and woman, I have many different roles to fill, and want to make sure I make goals for each hat I wear so that I can achieve greatness in each.  It is hard to balance everything, so having clear goals really helps.  Some use vision boards which can be even more effective in hitting your goals.  Being in my mid-thirties I feel as if I need to set lofty goals to get where I need to be before I turn 40.

Here goes nothing, 2018 goals and deadlines:

mom

As a mother, I would like to achieve the following with my boys:

  1. Have them fully potty trained by end of March.
  2. Have them reading Mickey Mouse books on their own by end of March.
  3. Get tutoring for them before TK, or pre-Kindergarten, to make sure they are on the same playing field as the other children.  This will be before March too.
  4. Have them clearly speaking sentences and responding politely with please and thank you always.
  5. Have them sleeping through the night without coming into mom and dad’s room.  Better to be independent here.

wife

As a wife, I would like to achieve the following:

  1. Cook dinner at least 4 times a week and learn something new that my husband likes.
  2. Be sexy at least 3 times a week.
  3. Support my husband and his acting career as much as possible.
  4. Support him in joining new acting groups to help expand his network.

coworkers

As a co-worker, I would like to achieve the following:

  1. Encourage my fellow co-workers to be their best daily.
  2. Be friendly and helpful.
  3. Be enthusiastic and positive.

business partner

As a business partner, I would like to achieve the following:

  1. Blog as often as possible, minimum 3 times weekly to further build my blog.
  2. Partner with other websites to support their content.
  3. Get 1,000 articles in by end of year.
  4. Learn something new technically to enhance my site and others.
  5. Dress professionally every day, nothing wrinkled.

As a woman, I would like to achieve the following:

  1. Do my hair nice as to not look like a wet headed troll when I enter the outside world.
  2. Do my makeup, again to not look like a tired troll.
  3. Keep up with the Whole30 diet.
  4. Get to a healthy weight, 155 pounds preferably by end of March.
  5. Walk 2 miles a day or swim in the pool.

What are some of your goals and achievements that you would like to accomplish this year?  Having clear set goals should really help improve your chances of hitting your goals this year!  I would say make sure your daily routine includes little steps to hitting the goal.  As for 2018, remember to take care of yourself, keep your head up, brush off the haters and kick ass!
