There is nothing like the rich taste of Indian butter chcicken for any meal, at any time of day!
My kids absolutely love butter chicken and requrest it at any meal.
Today we explore a rich stove top Indian recipe that involves pulling all the ingredients together to make it a wonderful way for you to celebrate with your family.
Indian butter chicken dates back to earlier centuries and utilize s all the roots like ginger and spices like garam masala, cumin, turmeric, and more. Cilantro is a lovely way to top off this meal as the fresh greens lightly flavor it, like the bow wrapped around a holiday present.
1/4 cup of small diced white onion
1 tablespoon of olive oil
3 minced garlic cloves
4 tablespoons of ghee (clarified butter)
1 cup of chicken stock
8 oz tomato paste
1 teaspoon of salt
2 teaspoons of garam masala
1 teaspoon of tumeric
2 teaspoons of cinnamon
2 teaspoons of cumin
2 teaspoons of lemon juice
2 pounds of boneless skin chicken cut into 1 inch cubes
1 cup of heavy cream
1 cup of cilantro upon serving
1 cup of heavy cream
- At medium heat stove top add olive oil, onions, garlic, and ginger to pan, stirring for 3 minutes each.
- Add butter, chicken stock, tomato paste, cinnamon, salt, tumeric, garam masala and cumin.
- Stir in chicken on low heat, cover for 20 minutes until chicken is fully cooked, stirring here and there.
- Stir in cilanmtro and heavy cream and let sit for 2 munutes and turn off the heat.
- Serve with rice and save a little cilantro to put on top.
