10 Coping Skills to Embrace During the Christmas Holidays

1. Be gentle

Being gentle with yourself and being gentle with others is key. It is easy to get frustrated with family and friends, but remember nothing is perfect but progress is always achievable.

2. Make amends

Make amends with peers and ask for forgiveness. Holding on to old qualms and issues is not healthy for you or anyone else in your network.

3. Progress not perfection

Do the next right thing. You can’t adjust the wind but you can adjust your sails. Stay in the next right step and solution.

4. Restoration is available

You can always change with awareness, acceptance and action.

5. Pause

You always have the ability to pause and not take action if you are confused.

6. Ask for help

Asking for help requires courage and is necessary to change. Asking for help is a strength and not a weakness. Be kind to yourself and ask for help if you need it.

7. Serenity is not far off

Serenity, although it seems far off, is always accessible if you give it time. Serenity is achieved through relaxation, taking a pause, and taking it easy on yourself.

8. Remember the 3 A’s

Awareness, acceptance, and taking action are all ways to improve your mindset and next course of action.

9. Let go, and let god

When you leave all your troubles to God, there is no room for overthinking it and perseverating on fear.

10. Start your day over

You can always reset your day. The time is now.
