4 Haunted Hotels To Visit in Los Angeles, California This Halloween

HOTEL ALEXANDRIA, Downtown Los Angeles

Albert C. Bilicke and Robert Alfred Rowan built the first luxury hotel in the early 1900’s in downtown LA, and it was supposedly as well known and esteemed as the Coronado Hotel is in San Diego County, California now (many hauntings and has expanded into a lovely luxury hotel on the Pacific Ocean).

Known as LA’s first five star hotel, it glittered with gemstone tile, marble, pillars, mosaic floors, and stain glass windows that sparkled.  United Artists was supposedly formed in this hotel when a meeting with Charlie Chaplin and others decided the industry needed a new crew.

Although this new, bright hotel seemed to have a bright future, by the 80’s it had financial troubles and had to be converted into low income housing for Angelenos.

Prior to that there have been numerous ghost sightings of an Edwardian women in the hallways, phantom dancers in the ballrooms, and old fashioned business men in the guest rooms.

One room in particular, the Valentino Suite, is said to be the most haunted of them all.

Unfortunately you cannot book this hotel, but if you are brave enough you can rent out a room.  Be our guest.

CECIL HOTEL, Downtown LA

Nicknamed ‘The Suicide’, this haunted hotel still exists today.  It was home to 2 murdered females, an accidental drowning female, and 2 murderers that were convicted leading to one of them committing suicide.

The darkest was The Black Dahlia as Elizabeth Short was last seen as this bar before she was brutally murdered as her murderer sawed off all her body parts.

American Horror Story had a Hotel episode based on the stories of this hotel and others that are eerily similar and jaunting.

Interested in having the night of your life? Book here.

THE HOLLYWOOD ROOSEVELT, Hollywood

Many say they’ve seen Marilyn Monroe at the bar enjoying herself as a ghost, others have seen her at the pool.  Most book her preferred suite and said to have seen her in the mirrors.

The Hollywood Roosevelt was a wonderful stay, and when I first arrived with my guests, we had already gotten a feeling like we were being watched.  After leaving for dinner, we got very lost driving back and trying to find the hotel.  Then we eerily ran into Rosaria Dawson playing the piano on her own.  It was pretty spooky, but we weren’t surprised famous actresses would be there considering it’s ritzy past.

Care to run into Marilyn’s ghost this Halloween?  Book a room here!

THE MILLENNIUM BILTMORE, Downtown LA

It’s 100th anniversary is this year, and guess who is attending the party?  All the ghosts of Hollywood’s dark past including Elizabeth Short, The Black Dahlia, studio head Jack Warner, actresses Betty Davis, Greta Garbo, and many more will be there in pure form.

The Millennium Biltmore is opulence at it’s best, where marble, quartz and pillars ordain it’s halls that hang crystal chandeliers, and guests are ready to live like a 1920’s Hollywood star.  Check out the latest article on it’s crooked past, you’re likely to be scared when booking your stay, and its long run history has plenty of stories to keep you up at night. Learn more on this article in Haute Living here.

Want to meet some old Hollywood ghosts?  Book a night at The Millennium Biltmore Hotel today right here.

Spooky Second Fall Moon in October – The Halloween Hunter’s Moon

If only Vincent Price were alive now to announce the upcoming Hunter’s Moon on Halloween, we’d be even more scared then we are now! No where to run now, except 6 feet under ground.

Note for those that do not know Vincent Price, he’s an actor and a horror genius. Thrilling youtube clip of him reading Thriller, you’ll love it here.

The Hunters Moon gets its name from Native American tribes that had to hunt for game before the cold winter months. Known as the Sanguine Moon, Blood Moon, Travel Moon, or the Dying Grass Moon too, it signifies prepping bounty before hibernation to survive.

This magical moon is coming for all of us this October and we are ready for change. It will produce a massive harvest of vegetables and fruits that will be used throughout the rest of winter.

Universe Today has a great video on it too here.

Pumpkins are harvested and picked in fall, and there are many recipes out there to help you enjoy this bright, perky food.

Pumpkin pie, roasted pumpkin seeds, pumpkin soup, and pumpkin salad are popular to cook this fall!

The object of this moon is to remind all to gather meat before the long winter to prevent starvation and self preservation.

Is it extra spooky that it falls on Halloween night? The scariest night of the year?

Hell’s yes!

Many horror film fans make Halloween their Christmad by binge watching the world’s best horror movies.

My personal favorite scary movies are Candyman, Night of the Living Dead, Halloween 2, Ghostbusters 2, Scary Movie, What Lies Beneath, and Friday the 13th.

The cherry on top is that Halloween falls on a Saturday, so there is extra time for mayhem and murder throughout your town.

Stay safe spooksters and tricksters, you never know what’s lurking in the shadows.

How To Slay A Demon

1. Know your demon

Binsfield describes each demon in the book Princes of Hell that was written in the 14th century. They define Lucifer as the captain of Pride, Mammon as the captain of Greed, Asmodeus as the captain of Lust, Leviathon as the captain of Envy, Beelzebub as the captain of Gluttony, Satan as the captain of Wrath, and Belphegor as the captain of Sloth.

2. Expel the demon

This can be done many ways. First, sprinkle holy water in each room with the windows open. Second, light white sage on fire. Let it burn for 30 seconds then blow it out allowing the sage to smolder with smoke still until it goes out on it’s own. Third, bang pots and pans with the windows open through out the house to release demons. Fourth, charge cleansing crystals under a full moon. Best ones to use are obsidian, hematite, desert rose, hematite, and kyanite. Fifth, sprinkle salt in the corners of your house and at your front door. Sixth, wear a talisman or holy cross around your neck. Seventh, look in the mirror and describe yourself. If you see a failure, you need to control your negative thoughts. Stay positive and do not allow them in. Eighth, site Psalm 23 as this helps to drive in positivity and remove negative. Ninth, if all else fails call in your church or pastor to come in and bless the house.

3. Keeping the demon out for good

Avoid negative films or music in your home. Horror movies and gore can feed and invite them in. Pray often to expel them and say something like, ‘no demons are welcome here, this is a house of light and love guided by the infinite peace of the universe.’

Praying for you, and happy slaying.
