In 2020 we lose, in 2021 we win.
We have been comprised through our health, our jobs, and our very foundations among us have crumbled.
This is the year of rebuilding the life we really wanted, rather than participating in the rat wheel made to keep us rats.

Here are 11 ways we already have won, 2021.
1. We don’t avoid the void.
We all have different troubles that we have to work through. Some take longer than others. Make healing a priority in the New Year. There are hundreds of 12 step programs created to heal yourself, and there is no day but today to get started. Here is a sample list of programs for you to look at, join, and stay committed to healing you.

2. We stay in our hula hoop.
We have no control over anything but ourselves. Say that again outloud, I have control of myself and no one else. It is that simple. Stay responsible for your health and remember, you are the company you keep and it may be time for an upgrade.

3. Let a friend be there for you.
Make new friends but keep the old, one is silver and the other is gold. Remember that old girl scout’s song? It reigns true today. And if you don’t have a friend, it is time to make one. Joining different communities based on the hobbies you enjoy will help you have a common ground of enjoyment. Reach out for help!

4. Learn to let go of the things you cannot control, and stay focused on your personal growth.
There are certain circumstances we cannot control. Getting laid off, getting fired, losing a loved one, and getting sick all fall into the category. Stay healthy by remembering what you do have control over and what you do not.

5. Be brave in the face of uncertainty.
Trust the bigger picture and the bigger plan God has for you. We all do not know what the future will bring. It is necessary to trust the unknown and be courageous in knowing that all will work out according to that plan.

6. Respect your timelines.
Set realistic goals for yourself and have a deadline for achievements. This will keep you accountable for yourself. It will remind you to be brave and resilient, but also kind for yourself. You can adjust unrealistic goals to more realistic daily steps.

7. Say what’s happening today and how can I improve it.
You always have a chance to restart your day. If something off is happening, you can remove yourself from that situation. Then you can think of a new way to approach it. You don’t have to solve anyone else’s problems but your own.

8. Use a gentle approach.
Stop being so hard on yourself. You got to this point, be thankful for that. Now be gentle on your internal and external facing conversations. Understand you can only do things one step, one day, and one second at a time.

9. Know when it’s time to stay or when it’s time to go.
People, places and things are temporary if you let it be. Understand what relationships are bettering you and what relationships may be hindering you and adjust accordingly. Save yourself.

10. Learn something new about yourself.
The only way to learn is to experiment with new books, videos, or hobbies. This is a great way for you to step into the unknown and gives you the chance to discover new things you may love and new things you may hate.

11. Stop ruining your fun.
Don’t take yourself too seriously. Have fun, whatever that looks like while respecting yourself.
