“Nothing pays off like restraint of tongue and pen. We must avoid quick-tempered criticism and furious, power-driven argument. The same goes for sulking or silent scorn. These are emotional booby traps baited with pride and vengefulness.” And boy, do I need restraint of tongue and pen in 2022.
I caught the COVFEFE. Just kidding. I got the COVID. And I got the COVID not once, but twice this year. I was hospitalized twice after not sleeping for 3 days straight, having seizure-like tremors, peeing on myself 4 times, and having a fever over 105 degrees Fahrenheit. I am lucky to be alive and wanted to talk about it here to let you know that you are not alone if you got it too.
I first got COVID in February 2020. I was in bed straight for 5 days and my kids were in bed for 10 days. There was not a very high fever however it was elevated for all of us. We were exhausted. We knew it was not a regular flu as we were in bed for so long. Although the symptoms were not as bad as the two stints with COVID this year, it was a long period of time that I was sick. I could not get out of bed and did not shower either. I simply didn’t have the energy. Luckily I wasn’t one of the stats that was hospitalized the first time, but just wait.

This time around in 2022 and getting COVID twice, I realized that COVID brain is REAL. They say that COVID was engineered off of bats in China, well let me tell you something. I legit had BATS IN THE BELFRY and still am getting back my memory slowly but surely. It is now two months since I first got it, and still the COVID brain is real. The fourth months have been foggy, but I am slowly remembering what happened and getting back to me.
I was hospitalized twice due to insomnia the first time and fever the second time. The first time I was admitted to the hospital they thought I had a seizure when I finally went to sleep after not sleeping for 3 days. It wasn’t a seizure. It was my body finally resting and passing out. To be sure that it wasn’t something more serious the doctors decided to give me a spinal tap to get further details as to what happened. I was hospitalized from over exhaustion and it seems many others have experience this COVID symptom too. Check out the article from Everyday Health here: https://www.everydayhealth.com/coronavirus/can-covid-19-trigger-insomnia/.
The bigger issue is that I didn’t get my booster shot soon enough. When I decided to get the booster shot after my first bout with COVID, I went to CVS after 14 days of testing negative. I got the booster shot. 3 days later I had an adverse effect, tested positive for COVID again and was hospitalized once again. I am adamant that my second bout of COVID was caused by the booster shot.

I didn’t have a temperature either when hospitalized, however my brain was mush. During COVID I had head tremors where my head was shaking so hard I wasn’t sure if I were going to have a full blown seizure or not.
I lived through getting COVID twice this year but in the meantime, lost my full time job and gained 30 pounds. I am now on daily medication to help stabilize my moods, but each day is a fight to regain my strength. I have decided to join a gym to start getting healthier again. I’ve already went on a long walk yesterday, and a long walk again today.
I have joined a women’s club that motivates me to be a better person. I am starting to blog again to keep my mind active. I am not giving up. I am a fighter and I am so happy that I have this blog as an outlet to get me through the fire.
