Although I was never diagnosed with Celiac Disease like my sister, I do have issues when I eat foods with gluten. Not being able to have bagels as a native New Yorker is the worst. It’s almost as bad as not being able to have a margarita in Mexico. It’s just hard, man.
Since white flour is way out of the question, I have always wanted a list of gluten-free grains that I can reference whenever I am out at the supermarket grocery shopping. I try to eat flour here and there, but I always regret it. Not only does it make me feel sluggish and tired, but it also quickly packs on the pounds and makes me constipated. Sorry for the TMI (that acronym stands for too much information, player).
The reality is I love donuts, bagels, pizza, cookies, and everything in between, however I need to be mindful of my body. My body is a machine that I fuel with food to function as optimally as possible, and for me in particular that means eating gluten-free foods and substitutes that fill my belly and help me be the best me I can be.

With that said, here are 18 gluten-free grains you CAN eat and can easily bookmark for your next supermarket sweep.
