Here we are again. Home alone with nothing left to do. By this time, we are sure you’ve come up with quarantine crafts, quarantine recipes, and quarantine self care tips. But have you come up with quarantine home care hacks yet, Bueller?

If the answer is no, then we got you with this article about 5 home care hacks to conquer this year of COVID quarantine. And luckily we’ll all be in the clear to go back to our regularly scheduled programs in 2021 with the new vaccine.

1. Stinky Sponge? Run it through the dishwasher cycle!

Ditch the lots of soap and no solution in sight method by cleaning your sponges in the dishwasher! I know. This sound shady, but it actually works. I tried this hack this week and it was a golden billboard topper. Pure gold and number one on our charts.

2. Dirty Kitchen Countertops? Try Lemon Juice!

Nothing is worse than a dirty kitchen counter. Actually scratch that. The only thing worse than a dirty counter top, is having to use bleach to clean it up. It is not healthy to use as you breathe in nasty chemicals and if you have kids and touch it when it is not fully dry, it can have some nasty side effects. We love to use lemon juice to clean our counter tops as it sanitizes them nicely and also gives a fresh smell too. Bye bye bleach!

3. Dirty Doorknobs? Try rubbing alcohol!

This is borderline OCD, I admit it! However you can’t be too cautious now with the flu running rapid. Every week I pour a capful of rubbing alcohol on our indoor and outdoor doorknobs to prevent the spread of bacteria. I only do it on the bottom floor doors as I think I hope on my roommates cleaning their hands as they come in each time from the outside activities. This sanitizes them too when you have multiple delivery men and randoms touching your doorknobs and potentially spreading the virus. Try it and see how it works for you. I find peace of mind in this department is priceless.

4. Dirty Bathtub? Try Baking Soda!

Baking soda is a low key powerhouse of cleaners that can not only whiten your teeth when applied to your toothpaste, but it can also deep clean a dirty bathtub when poured onto a damp tub. When like to avoid having pure bleach in the house for the safety of our littles, so baking soda is a great alternative to bathroom cleaners that can be toxic and harmful to both kids and adults alike. You can put the shower on for a few seconds to moisten it. Then sprinkle a half cup of baking soda on it. Use a sponge to clean it off in circular motions. You should see the dirt remove itself and should find the tub sparkling clean once complete. Give it a shot and let us know how it came out.

5. Dull silver jewelry? Try baking soda and some good old elbow grease!

I hate seeing jewelry go unused, especially when the reason it that it has dulled and oxidized from the natural elements of your home. A quick way to give it that natural gray glow again is to polish it with baking soda and a little bit of water. This pulls out the natural newborn metallic feel and gives you the ability to rock that special jewelry again.
